Swimmin'

Ok - I'm starting to finally loose some weight! Yippy!!
Long way to go, but at least I'm feeling like I'm starting to get somewhere. :)

Swam tonight - did the 1/2 mile in 21 minutes!!!
That's 4 minutes faster. Really happy with my progress.

It's Official

It's Official - I'm signed up for the Trek all Women's Triathlon in 3 weeks.
I'm pretty excited to see how I'll do.
Ran 5 miles this morning in the rain - I'm proud of myself for getting up and
making the choice to run in the icky weather. It actually felt good.
Took me an hour and 10 mins. With no stopping!! I can't believe I can do it.
This week I've got to work on biking. I'm feeling really behind in that area.

37!

Took two days off to let a couple blisters heal up...
BUT - today I decided to try running 3.2 as fast as I could
to see what kind of time I could get.

37 minutes!!! I haven't run that since I was 40 lbs less!!!
So excited.

Blisters!

Only 3.5 mile run today. Felt good - legs were a little stiff still from Monday's run.
Also had problems with blisters on 2 of my toes!!! Ouch!!!
I think it was the socks!

Sluggish

Woke up early to swim in the pool this morning with Shell - - my legs were pretty stiff from running yesterday. Hopped in the pool and tried to drag myself through the water. It took 15 minutes to swim the quarter mile - I felt really sluggish today. Didn't get good sleep last night and I think that run whipped me out. Next swim will be better right? :)

5 miles down!

I did it!!

5 MILES!!! No stopping!!!

It felt great - I've got a pretty slow pace, but my heart, lungs & legs
felt pretty good. Around the 4 mile mark I could feel my legs start to
stiffen up a bit. Worked through it and even started to pick up my pace
the last quarter mile or so. Sprinted the last three blocks and thought my heart was
going to pop out of my chest. So proud of myself!!!

In the beginning

I'm new to blogging - so this will be a new experience too.
I'm on my way to a journey I've always wanted to take... the Ironman!

At this point, I'm overweight by 50 pounds - I've got drive but I'm having
a hard time staying motivated.

I'm an athlete at heart and I want to be an everyday athlete like I once was.

3 little girls and a home grown business has gotten me away from what I once
was. I'm ready to take myself back! I'm ready to get serious! Losing weight is
my main focus with a secondary focus on 3 sprint triathlons this summer with an
ultimate goal of the Ironman Wisconsin in 2012 or 13.

I've got an awesome support team - I just need to stay focused on the goal - both
big and small. I'm hoping this blog will help me stay on track and remind myself
of where I'm trying to go and when I look back to see where I've come from.

Nighty night! I've worked my way up to 4 miles of running over the last couple months.
Which is more than I've ever gone before. I'm slow as hell, but I seem to be able to do it. Tomorrow I'm aiming at trying 5 miles just to see if I can do it.
Charging up my iPod as we speak and have my shoes ready to go.
